It’s no secret that the Ford Maverick is slammed with delays, but you might not be completely out of luck. There are a few 2023 Ford Maverick features that can be dropped to bump up production and delivery times.
A few different issues have pushed 2023 Ford Maverick production back by months. Currently, there’s no production scheduled this week at the Hermosillo plant in Sonora, Mexico. This could be related to a variety of supply chain constraints.
Some of the most significant supply shortages include the trailer hitch, splash guards, tri-fold tonneau cover, bed liner, and tray cover. According to Ford-Trucks, you can drop these options to get your truck faster.
But if no production is scheduled, does this mean the truck is being built without these features? Ford could be preparing to switch gears. Reportedly, the focus will be placed on the Ford Maverick Hybrid models for dealership allocations.
Can you get a 2023 Maverick right now?
While orders for the 2023 Ford Maverick have been closed for months, you aren’t totally out of luck. You might be able to find a Maverick model at a local dealership. But of course, that means it could come with a hefty markup.
The Ford Maverick might be getting prepped for delivery. The EcoBoost 2.0-liter inline-four engine cranks out 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. This engine is easier to come by and could arrive faster.
This engine gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and up to 30 mpg on the highway. It helps the Maverick tow up to 4,000 lbs.
Models with the EcoBoost 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine could be delivered a little later due to supply chain constraints. This engine is paired with an electric motor to crank out 191 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is the more popular option but faces limited inventory. It’s the more affordable engine, and it gets an EPA-estimated 40 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway. That’s excellent for a truck.
But models equipped with the hybrid engine can’t be paired with AWD or the towing package. The Maverick Hybrid can tow up to 2,000 lbs. However, if you don’t need the trailer hitch, then your tuck could be delivered faster.
When will the 2024 Maverick order banks open?
Progress with the 2023 Ford Maverick may be responsible for when the order banks open for next year. The 2024 Ford Maverick order banks are currently expected to open in the late summer or fall.
However, an official date hasn’t been provided. Also, the order banks for the 2023 model were delayed by a couple of weeks. Ford may want to get through its backlog of orders before accepting new reservations.
Also, we wouldn’t be surprised if some 2023 models are delayed until 2024. We aren’t sure if the process would allow buyers to maintain the same price or if they would need to cancel their 2023 order to submit a 2024 order.
